Maï Shafei - Sustainability Project Officer
As sustainability project officer at HCWH Europe, I coordinate the project Greening the Brussels Healthcare Sector. I am raising awareness about healthcare’s environmental footprint and working closely with six Brussels hospitals to support them in putting in place actions to reduce the environmental and climate footprint of their facilities and operations.
Before joining HCWH Europe, I worked at EFA a patient association representing patients with allergies and airways diseases. I also have experience working with sustainable technology and innovation start-ups. Working for an ICT start-up that was part of the Brussels Regional Program for a Circular Economy in 2018, I was able to participate in creating a circular economy business model for the programme.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Development from Haute Ecole Paul Henri Spaak, Belgium, and an MSc in Sustainability Science, Policy and Society from the University of Maastricht in The Netherlands.
Culture has always been an important part of my life. I enjoy going to cultural events as well as being creative in my spare time. Beyond cultural activities, I love being by water whether out at sea, diving, or swimming at the local pool.
