WAAW 2017 Day 3 – #KeepAntibioticsWorking

It’s day three of World Antibiotic Awareness Week (WAAW) 2017 and every day this week, HCWH Europe is sharing a different resource/publication relating to our work on pharmaceuticals/AMR.

Learn more about how doctors and other health professionals can help to keep antibiotics working with HCWH Europe’s recent brochure Reducing Antimicrobial Resistance: How health professionals can help

This year’s WAAW also coincides with the 10th European Antibiotics Awareness Day (EAAD), which takes place on Saturday 18th November. The EAAD is an annual European public health initiative that aims to raise awareness about the threat to public health of antibiotic resistance and the importance of prudent antibiotic use.

To mark this year’s EAAD, The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control will hold a launch event in Brussels today from 09:00 – 12:30. You can watch the event live here.

In preparation for the launch, HCWH Europe have just released a video pledge on its commitment to tackling AMR and antimicrobial resistance.

The pledge outlines HCWH Europe’s commitment to keeping antibiotics working – the theme of this year’s EAAD.

In the pledge, Pharmaceuticals Policy Officer Adela Maghear outlines how HCWH Europe works with different stakeholders – health professionals, patients, and policy makers – to ensure that there is an awareness about how pharmaceuticals in the environment can lead to AMR, and an appropriate response in behaviour change and policy. The pledge also calls for the need to take a ‘One Health’, collaborative approach to keeping antibiotics working.

Each day during World Antibiotic Awareness Week, HCWH Europe will be sharing articles and resources on AMR and Pharmaceuticals in the environment:
