Demands for an EDC-free Europe in open letter to President Juncker

On 20 November 2014, Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) Europe joined with 18 health and environment organisations, doctors, scientists and concerned professionals to deliver an open letter to President Jean-Claude Juncker calling for greater action to protect public health from endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs).

The letter urges President Juncker to take clear action to minimise our frequent, daily exposure to harmful hormone-disrupting chemicals. HCWH Europe and our partners in the EDC Free Europe campaign believe that the Commission must prioritise the innovation of safer substances and technologies in 2015 in order to phase out harmful chemicals. We are also calling on the Commission to release the delayed EDC strategy.

"We wanted to take the opportunity to let President Juncker know that we are serious in our demand for an EDC-free Europe," stated Laurel Berzanskis, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Policy Officer for HCWH Europe. "We hope that President Juncker will take a proactive approach to reducing the public's exposure to EDCs. After all, this is an issue that affects every one of us in Europe."
