Proposed Mercury regulation July 2016

Ahead of the European Parliament Environment Committee meeting next Tuesday (10/07/16), HCWH Europe have released their position paper on the proposed Mercury regulation:

HCWH Europe have advocated for the adoption and implementation of legally binding instruments that would reduce mercury in the global environment to a minimum. The effects of the presence of mercury on both health (human and animal), and the environment are of great concern.

In this extensive report into the issue of mercury as an environmental and public health concern, HCWH Europe clarifies their position with a specific focus on dental amalgam and the proposed measures from the European Commission.

HCWH Europe concludes that the two proposed measure to be adopted by the commission are too lacklustre and will prove ineffectual against what the World Health Organisation describes as a chemical of major public health concern.
